Help me connect Wifi Offline. Other Os's on HD to Xfer Files

hi, i am having a problem connecting wifi to the internet. my wifi wlan0 was not recognized when I setup the debian live cd so I told it I will manually. there were no other options i could do. i only have access to wifi because i share a friends internet. I have two other os's on the hard drive that connect to wifi out of the box. I am using bodhi 10.04 and knoppix also. they both connect fine so of course I am able to download any debian files I need and transfer them to the other partition, but I have not been able to find which package lets me get wifi. also I run into alot of dependency problems. debian only has about 550 packages installed to bodhi's 850 and it is a 370mb dristro live not 675.

im not sure if this is all the info needed about the wireless driver but here it is. this is the info from bodhi, the debian live cd wont even let me ifconfig iwconfig or anything like that.

also I have wicd downloaded ready to go but dependency problems. and have been having to install these one by one.

i have searched in bodhi synaptic for wlan and rt2800 drivers but none show to be installed. so I found that wierd.
