I like my desktop tidy with a minimum of clutter. Oh... and yes, I like unicorns :)

hcgtv, what is that bottom dock-bar there? Is it a feature of Enlightenment?

thamarok, the bottom dock-bar is called the Shelf and is a feature of Enlightenment.

You can have many Shelfs and place them at different positions along the top, bottom, left and right sides of your desktop. One thing I like is that you can make your desktop look like OS X, if you so desire.

Very cool! I think I should try Enlightenment.. Do you know how slow Gnome/KDE apps startup there? Thanks!

I run GTK apps from it and they run just as fast as if I was in Gnome. For some reason, the fonts in Firefox look better, haven't quite put my finger on it.

Have you tried any KDE applications? And which is better to use: E16 or E17?
And did you install Enlightenment by just apt-get install enlightenment?

It seems like Etch and Sid has only E16... How can I get E17 the 'easy way'?
And sorry for being a nuisance, but I need this information :P

Thanks!

edit the file /etc/apt/sources.list and add the line:

deb http://edevelop.org/debian sid main

then :

aptitude update

aptitude install e17

Thanks!

I did that after reading some stuff about usability and am experimenting to find the most efficient desktop layout :)
