Morning all, been a very long time since I last ran Debian, so I need a little help installing glftpd. I had Debian installed on a remote machine, downloaded glftpd ( wget http://www.glftpd.com/files/glftpd-LNX_2.01.tgz )and received this error when I tried to extract it:
tar -xzf glftpd-LNX_2.01.tgz
gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: glftpd
Could it be because glftpd.com now points to some Russian company (balakovosoft.ru)?
(Just a hunch.)

Not relevant. An HTTP request to glftpd.com 301s to balakovosoft.ru.peter_irich wrote:Those sites has different IP addresses
A quick Google search for glftpd suggests that the "official" site for glftpd is now defunct. It has been replaced by a "semi-official" site that seems to have the relevant files available for download.
