Wheezy x64+nvidia-glx 290.10-1+linux-image-3.2.0-1-x64=FAIL

#1 Post by espressobeanie »

Hi,

Debian Wheezy amd64 + nvidia-glx-290.10-1 and xserver-xorg-video-nvidia + linux-image-3.2.0-1-amd64 = bricked OS
(x+y+z=FAIL)

Any substitution of linux-image-x.x.x.x in the < 2.x.x.x range = stable
Any substitution of xserver-xorg-video-nouveau = stable

Has anyone found a workaround without downgrading?

Spex that probably won't help:
Motherboard: BioSTAR N68S3+ v6.0
IGP: NVIDIA GeForce 7025 GPU
CPU: AMD Sempron
I love Debian!!!

Got that combo here without any issue. You have that nvida-kernel-dkms installed? That should have rebuilt the module when the wheezy kernel got upgraded. It did on my wheezy.

If you used module-assistant instead then you should be able to use it again to rebuild for the new kernel.

I also have that combo, and it's working just like before the kernel upgrade.

I am using linux 3.2.0-5.dmz.1-liquorix-amd64 with a phenom 955be and an nvidia card with no problem. As stated above make sure to have dkms installed or you will end up with no GUI.

Do you have the headers package installed (linux-headers-3.2.0-1-amd64) ?

Thanks Eck for your reply related to nvidia driver. I also have AMD Athlon x_64 with nvidia GeForce 6150 driver, when I install nvidia driver I was not able to login into GUI . After googling I found your post and login to GUI after installing nvidia-kernel-dksm.
