Testing is now frozen

#1 Post by jezzivi »

Hi,

As previously announced[1], testing is now frozen.

To keep this mail short, and make our lives easier :-), further details
about the freeze process and the type of changes which will be eligible
for unblocking can be found at [2]. We'll keep the page updated as the
freeze hardens, with any major changes being announced on d-d-a.

Freeze exceptions have been added for packages in unstable at the
beginning at today's 19:52 dinstall; the exception applies only to the
specific version of the package - further uploads will require explicit
unblock requests as usual. The "grep-excuses" script from devscripts
can be used to determine whether a package has been unblocked.

Adam,
for the Debian Release Team

Okay that means that it's time to get serious about what DE to switch to. Every day it's looking more like KDE. 4.8 went in Wheezy back on the 20th so I'm cool with that just hope the wife is too.

KDE4.4 has been awesome for me on Squeeze and I have no doubt KDE4.8 when Wheezy releases will be just as good if not better. Should be a winner for you.

That's great news about the freeze and everything seems to be moving right on schedule. Lets hope for a release this year or very early next year.

Joel has not yet realised that such problems do not exist with Gnome 3, because such issues can be solved by installing two or three additional packages, so-called add-ons or whatever, that make the DE behave like a ... well, DE.
XFCE is such garbage.

Hello, forgive me if this is obvious to others: i'm new to the forums. I noticed in the 'announcements' forum, when Squeeze was frozen it was posted there. how come this thread isn't there too?

The Announcements sub-forum is for announcements, while the Discussion sub-forum is for discussion. This thread is in the Discussion area so we can discuss, debate, argue, laugh, sigh, cry and scream about the subject. :P

Doesn't matter because Gnome 3 sucks. And one big sucking sound comes from their so called extensions. 3.0 extensions may not work on 3.2 and 3.0 and 3.2 extensions may not work on 3.4 so I'm sure 3.6 will have the same problem with the first 3.
