SOLVED How do I Auto Login with Xfce

#1 Post by ozgta »

Hi,
Debian Wheezy with Xfce
I had auto login setup however after an update I have to login again and cannot find the file to reset it.
I looked for the Login Window to make the change however I could not find that either but maybe it's an application I remember from Gnome desktop.

Can anyone show me the path to the correct file please.

Since you're using XFCE, my guess is that you use LighDM.
The Debian wiki explains how to enable autologin: http://wiki.debian.org/LightDM#Enable_autologin

If others are still encountering this issue, you might try running this:

sudo /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/lightdm/lightdm-set-defaults --autologin your_user_name_here

All of the other solutions didn't work for me, but this one did.
