Denian 7 release date? Support for AMD legacy?

#1 Post by yro »

Hi guys.

I want to ask you 3 questions:

1) When will Debian 7 final be release?

2) Will Debian 7 (wheezy) be compatible with the AMD legacy drivers? (I have an radeon HD 4350 videocard)

3) Will MATE-DESKTOP be in official Debian 7 repos? Or will it be released as an default DE on the debian 7 Medias?

Thanks for your time and sorry about my english.

1. When it is ready.
2. Presumably, but I have no experience with AMD graphics.
3. No.

The number of release critical bugs (concerning the next release) may indicate:

Openbox, JWM: Jessie, Sid, Arch / Win XP (on VirtualBox), 10

Damn
I think what Dasein is saying, in his inimitable way, is that since Jessie thaws around Feb / March, and Gnome releases around March, they're more likely to skip straight to 3.10. I think I may have even read an announcement that officially said that's what's happening, but I don't follow Gnome that closely so I can't remember.

so, any informations about my questions?

i saw that debian is now using and release point schedule, not more the "when its ready" flavor. and i cant see any info about compatibility with amd leacy drivers.

dilberts_left_nut already answered two of them. Are you hoping that someone will come along and repeat those answers? (If you are hoping for someone to contradict them, then you are going to be very disappointed.)

As for the one question that he couldn't answer, there is almost certainly an ATI driver (whether free or proprietary) for a mainstream, 5-year old video card. (But I too have no direct experience to draw upon.)

If this is currently the case with testing (not sure these days as I no longer use AMD/ATI) then it will probably be the case when wheezy goes stable.

I buyed a SSD disk to replace normal one, and want to reinstall debian testing on it.

I'm not going to install now, then maybe in a few days above install updates from gnome 3.4 to gnome 3.6.
I'd rather leave some time after the release of wheezy...
