I'm having problems with the xfce desktop - right click not working, desktop icons sometimes disappearing. I've found reports via google of similar problems but those are always accompanied by the wallpaper disapearing and that's not happening to me. It appears to be due to a memory leak with xfdesktop since if I run the memory check script from http://www.pixelbeat.org/scripts/ps_mem.py I get this:
Private + Shared = RAM used Program
4.0 KiB + 8.0 KiB = 12.0 KiB acpi_fakekeyd
4.0 KiB + 12.0 KiB = 16.0 KiB sh
(deleted for clarity)
1.4 MiB + 249.0 KiB = 1.6 MiB xfce4-session
1.6 MiB + 390.5 KiB = 2.0 MiB nm-applet
2.1 MiB + 580.5 KiB = 2.7 MiB xfwm4
2.6 MiB + 504.5 KiB = 3.1 MiB xfce4-power-manager (2)
2.9 MiB + 164.0 KiB = 3.1 MiB bash
4.9 MiB + 1.1 MiB = 6.0 MiB xfce4-panel
7.6 MiB + 2.1 MiB = 9.7 MiB xfce4-terminal
8.3 MiB + 1.4 MiB = 9.7 MiB Xorg
112.7 MiB + 1.5 MiB = 114.2 MiB x-www-browser
1.3 GiB + 1.7 MiB = 1.3 GiB xfdesktop
---------------------------------
1.5 GiB
=================================
1.3GiB used by xfdesktop! I'm tracking sid so the xfce version is 4.10. The machine I'm running it on (in case it's relevant) is a Sony Vaio NR10E-S laptop. Oh, and it's the amd64 architecture I'm using.
Many thanks in advance
