nonsense rant megathread

#1 Post by anastasis »

confuseling wrote:The Debian Developers / Maintainers / Members decide what happens.

It was ever thus.
Oh, quite on the contrary, my confuseling friend.

Only systemd developers decide what happens.

It isn't a theory. It's a demonstrable fact.

If you are a package maintainer and couldn't care less about systemd, you sure as Richard Stallman's Hawaiian shirt will now.

Openrc? SysVInit?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Screw you! That's not Debian way!

And screw you too, Ian Jackson!

How dare you think that DebIan is about anything but what systemd developers decide?

You're all their bishes now!

Why systemd is the way forward: technical arguments

confuseling wrote:So why didn't they vote accordingly?

Did RedHat rig the poll?
Because screw you! That's why.

Screw Ian Murdok.

Screw Ian Jackson.

Screw Richard Stallman.

Screw that Torvalds character.

Screw SysVInit.

Screw that South African what's-his-name and his Ubuntu posse with their pathetic little upstart thingy thingy.

In fact, SCREW THE WHOLE DAMNED .DEB development world.

Systemd is here to stay because systemd says so.

So stop complaining about getting soft-raped and just enjoy the ride.

Because you're going to get raped.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

The Master Plan and Final Solution are complete!

That's exactly right.

It's because nobody was doing anything kewl with openrc, or upstart, or that infernally wretched sysvinit.

So screw you! 'cause our init RULEZ your MOTHER! uselessd, FAIL!

If you can't tell Ian Jackson from Ian Murdoch, you can't honestly expect anyone to take you seriously, let alone listen to anything you have to say.
Uh...do we have a problem? Ian Jackson, you know. The same Ian Jackson who founded Debian with Bill Gates way back in 1982.

Yeah. It doesn't matter to us. One Ian is as good at the next. The important this is to understand that they are all irrelevant now. The New Order is here.

instead of demanding that developers providing software to you
Oh, I see.

So.....

When systemd makes demands on developers, there's no problem.

But when we turn it around the other, it mystically becomes errant.

I'm certain that makes some sort of sense ....

You can't handle the truth.

Go ahead and ban me from the boards.

I don't want to be a part of Nazian anyway.

I just wanted to get a little taste this weekend of exactly what kind of fascists I'm dealing with here.

And now I know.

If this board ever deserved a troll, it's now.

So...the gloves are off.

It doesn't end here.

What is that for a half baked crap? Remove them if you want to destroy the context of threads. They don't make any sense in a megathread. They probably didn't make any sense in other threads neither, but what is the point of this thread?

The threads they came from are train wrecks anyway, relevant bits have been quoted by responders, and deleting stuff is against my religion generally (free speech and all that - yes, yes, laugh all you want), and I'm doing it in response to "popular demand".

If it's mostly coherent and not just offensive and offtopic for the sake of it's been left alone.

The threads are wreck trains anyway, but you remove parts which are ... wrecked too?

Ah, by "popular demand". You are not the first moderator running in that trap. I know at minimum two which were bugged by users all day ... crap knows why anyone would feel the need to speak to moderators if he doesn't like something (simply ignoring it is impossible, it seems).

I stick to my opinion: remove it altogether. Or leave it alone (I got no clue what is the right decision, i don't follow threads that closely).

If it was me i had the feeling you were making fun of me (assuming anastasis has a valid concern. Like said: I simply don't know).

Just saying. Forums are forums. I don't expect much of them or am disappointed by anyone doing anything (be it trolling or moderating or crying for the nanny or ... what-you-have).

Did that make any sense? At least more sense than all the drama since d-day ? Not a bit, you say. Damnit.

Makes sense to me, assuming I'm seeing the right person behind the new nick (again? :) ).

I don't like 'disappearing' posts but there is a balance to be struck.

And I believe the "valid concerns" had been adequately expressed prior to the above...

Are you saying my concerns are not valid?
How dare you ...

Foam at mouth ...

Kidding aside: That is how users of Linux (and other OS'es too) want their forums. Probably they got all the right in the world to want it. The ones who host forums want it too. Everyone (including the trolls) is happy, not that bad. The Revolution OS". That doesn't sound well in my ears anymore. But hey ... just me).

I will try it again in 500 years. + or - a bit.

Interesting test:

* write a post, containing whatever
* reply to your own post 7 times, containing whatever

Eventually, somebody will respond.

my response to this reinforces anyone will respond to anything

Debian used to be a distro...

#19 Post by Linadian »

...now it's just a "dependency of systemd".

From a post in the DistroWatch comments (I love the 'Debian being a dependency of systemd' part, sad but funny).
76 • systemd flames (by cykodrone on 2014-11-29 16:23:05 GMT from Canada)
Wow, I can't believe some of the posts here.

1. Systemd is NOT developed and maintained by an independent purely FOSS developer, but by an employee of a corporation which ultimately seeks more market share on desktops and servers, true or false? TRUE

2. Systemd, when fully installed and used initiates and controls almost every service (including networking, huge NSA red flag) on your machine and has secretive binary format log files, true or false? TRUE

3. Systemd developers have tried to bully LINUS TORVALDS to ingrain not fully tested buggy code in to the Linux kernel itself to which he replied, "fix your stuff first, I'm tired of OTHER people fixing your bugs for you", true or false? TRUE

@ 72 wrote "this all came to a head with Debian in particular and not with Suse or Fedora or whatnot". SUSE (who caved to MS software patent threat 'deal') is the corporate version of openSUSE, which has its roots in rpm based distros, which brings me to Fedora, the beta testbed for the very CORPORATION behind systemd, Redhat.

I can't believe a lot of you are missing the main point in all of this, normally under the old Debian guard, systemd would have been banished to contrib or even the non-free repository, since it is built and supported by a corporation, regardless of it being GPL (for now, I'm going to laugh when they pull that license), nevermind completely caving and making the rest of Debian a DEPENDENCY OF SYSTEMD, lol. *shakes head*

I'm tired of feeding trolls, but that's what they want, silence the voices of true software choice and freedom.
There's a new name for Debian, "Depends"©®™, like the incontinent undergarment, lol.
