Resigning from forum staff

#1 Post by saulgoode »

I do not wish to follow Debian in the direction the project has chosen. I am therefore resigning from my position on the forum staff and will not be visiting the forum as much in the future.
Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it. -- Brian Kernighan

Sorry to hear that.

I suppose there's no point in trying to convince you to stay, so the only thing I'll say is maybe some day you'll feel like coming back, hopefully.

Bye and good luck with your future endeavors.

We had our problems, in the past, but it has been a pleasure to get to know you.

You know really much (you probably realize it yourself), but, first of all, i never heard a bad word from you
(I am pretty sure that it isn't that hard to get angry when having to deal with my "moods" ... ).

Nothing but respect from me.

The most short version: Thanks.
Give me convenience or give me death.

I remember the time when Lavene was administrator of this forum. In one of her posts, a few months before she resigned, she complained of the bloat, if I remember, the post was about KDE4 being unnecessarily bloated. Times have been changing ever since, and now, we have a completely transformed Debian with different values, sadly, which clash with the original values Debian was famous for.

Needless to state, it is constraints over which I have no control, that are still keeping me from opting to use an alternative.

The worst infection of all, is a false sense of security!
It is hard to get away from CLI tools.

Thank you saulgoode, for your calm sanity, and for some of the most edifying posts I've read on this forum.
I hope you'll be wherever you’re happy and stress-free, doing what you want to do. You certainly deserve it.

Without doubt you have been a fantastic servant to this board. You will be greatly missed.

I hear you on that. Many of us will vote with our feet when the time comes (not quite yet for me). It's not gonna be easy to start from scratch in a new OS environment. Sigh.

You will be missed. But perhaps a good move for you. Before long this board will likely be flooded with droolers who have no business running Linux but will now be able to because it's so shiny and cool.

Debian RIP
May the FORK be with you!

Thanks for the advice, and the trademark relaxed delivery - goodness knows we've needed it around here.

The Forum's search box is terrible. Use site specific search, e.g.

Farewell saulgoode,

wish you good luck with whatever you are up too.

Not that it is of any relevance, but may I ask if you have made up your mind yet which direction you are heading?

Cheers
