[solved] gimp disappeared, cant install it

#1 Post by sergius »

i recently had update, it worked fine but gimp disappeared. now if i try to install it in terminal it gives me this:

Code: Select all

The following NEW packages will be installed:
  gimp{b} gimp-data{a} libgimp2.0{ab}
0 packages upgraded, 3 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 15.0 MB of archives. After unpacking 68.3 MB will be used.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 gimp : Depends: libc6 (>= 2.15) but 2.13-38+deb7u10 is installed.
        Depends: libdbus-1-3 (>= 1.9.14) but 1.6.8-1+deb7u6 is installed.
        Depends: libexif12 (>= 0.6.21-1~) but 0.6.20-3 is installed.
        Depends: libgegl-0.3-0 (>= 0.3.0) which is a virtual package.
        Depends: libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.41.1) but 2.33.12+really2.32.4-5 is installed.
        Depends: libmng2 (>= 1.0.10) which is a virtual package.
        Depends: libpango-1.0-0 (>= 1.29.4) which is a virtual package.
        Depends: libpangocairo-1.0-0 (>= 1.29.4) which is a virtual package.
        Depends: libpangoft2-1.0-0 (>= 1.29.4) which is a virtual package.
        Depends: libtiff5 (>= 4.0.3) but it is not going to be installed.
        Depends: python:any (>= 2.6.6-7~) which is a virtual package.
 libgimp2.0 : Depends: libc6 (>= 2.15) but 2.13-38+deb7u10 is installed.
              Depends: libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.41.1) but 2.33.12+really2.32.4-5 is installed.
              Depends: libpango-1.0-0 (>= 1.29.4) which is a virtual package.
              Depends: libpangocairo-1.0-0 (>= 1.29.4) which is a virtual package.
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

     Keep the following packages at their current version:
1)     gimp [Not Installed]
2)     libgimp2.0 [Not Installed]

     Leave the following dependencies unresolved:
3)     gimp-data recommends gimp

Accept this solution? [Y/n/q/?] y
No packages will be installed, upgraded, or removed.
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 0 B of archives. After unpacking 0 B will be used.

Which version of Debian do you think you are using?

Your libc6 is the wheezy version but GIMP wants a newer one -- are you trying to install that from jessie?

See http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?&t=114130

Please post the output of:

Code: Select all

grep -v '^#\|^$' /etc/apt/sources.list{,.d/*};apt-cache policy

Can we also see:

Code: Select all

apt-cache policy gimp
Those PPAs are not a good idea, see https://wiki.debian.org/DontBreakDebian ... nkenDebian

Yeah, Ubuntu packages don't work so well in Debian ;)

Remove all the Ubuntu source lines, run `apt-get update` then try installing GIMP again.

Your system may already be b0rked beyond reasonable repair though.

You cannot run synaptic and terminal at the same time. Every so often I forget I have one or the other open on another desktop and get that message.

there was another process running in terminal. i deleted all sources that are not wheezy, removed broken package gimp-data and installation worked successfully. the problem was program jdownloader that i tried to install from ubuntu sources what created big clash. thank you all for help.

In case the subtler point got lost along the way, you need to realize that your larger problem may or may not be fixed. When/if you encounter or post about another problem, be sure to start off by mentioning that you have a FrankenDebian. It's vitally important information.
