Re: List of your linux Apps
Truecrypt can't be compiled on Jessie, unfortunately.
If you like mpv, I built some debs of the latest mpv 0.16 on the stock Jessie chroot provided by the Open SUSE build service; it's pretty nice to have their build farm do the compiling and hosting for free.
This version differs from the Debian builds in that it has an internal version of ffmpeg 3.0, libass, and some other libraries, so it's bigger, but won't mess up any other programs. The debs are in the i386 or amd64 folders. http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... ebian_8.0/

Veracrypt is a viable replacement for TrueCrypt. It installs easily using the included installer.
Take my advice, I'm not using it.

Vivaldi is targeted at power users and might just be the browser haven you were looking for.
There are lots of nifty little features already built in, including tab previews and the ability to move tabs to any corner of the browser window.
It has brilliant tab-management features, including a search box that lets you find an open tab by typing in keywords and a “tiling” view that lets you see several tabs side by side.
Nice and interesting alternative to Chromium /Opera browser:

Hmm.... when talk about "Linux Apps" prefix.
I've 4 groups of softwares.
1) Cross-Platforms(Avaliable install all for Linux(.deb), Windows(.exe), Mac(.dmg))
2) Linux Only(Softwares that can't be found on other platforms than Linux)
3) Wine Apps
4) Chrome Apps
Does that means I can post only 2)?
If "List of your Apps on Linux" I'd post all 4 without prefix.

I'm not sure this forum is the right place to advertise for Apple Mac programs.
Or maybe I misread, and it really is free or non-free software that runs on Debian.
Could you please post the you have instructions for how to do so.

I got bored and tired of reading the junk the OP posts, so I did not see it at first, but when I saw the above post , I decided better take a look, the OP does have a history of promoting MS Windows mal-ware as well.ralph.ronnquist wrote:I'm not sure this forum is the right place to advertise for Apple Mac programs.

Any way at the site the OP is promoting, in the download section there are some general instructions for "linux" they don't seem to realize that there are many Linux distributions, and not all of them can use the same install instructions, my advise to anyone is DO NOT risk crashing their Debian system using this software the OP is trying to promote.
For more details read the "don't break Debian" at the wiki :
From: https://wiki.debian.org/DontBreakDebianOn Debian installing software from random websites is a bad habit.

Re: List of your linux Apps
There are very few quality (pro) applications for linux, Really, i find difficult sometimes to find great good applications that be open source (anyways they are always the same few knowed for all of us), this cross-over application has been developed to run also on linux, we should be grateful..ralph.ronnquist wrote:I'm not sure this forum is the right place to advertise for Apple Mac programs.

i see some people has a lot of prejudices.., If you consider this forum is not the right place to post anything not open source, please promote a rule about it, and we'll end up with all this hate. its not the first time the evil cat attack ..
Ive been for three years long playing with my debian linux, installing any kind of stuff, doing and undoind installations packages, mixing Ubuntu,Mint and others repositories sources, and i never broken my system, (indeed im not sure what does that mean), Now i've installed 32 and 64 bits packages all togethers, propietary software, and even running ubuntu kernel in my jessie system, and ive never had a problem dependency or virus.
If you have a problem with packages or dependecies, you can ask to aptitude which way to follow, are you always might do a DIST-UPGRADE, and everything will come to normal, please dont frighten to people. Best way to learn is to play and experience.. Anyway well are enought grown people able to know where to go or who are to be with,

Oh, Sir, I think that depends on your definition of 'quality (pro)'.bester69 wrote:There are very few quality (pro) applications for linux,
R and RStudio (makes me a little money)
Blender (one I intend to play with more in the future)
Texlive (central to anyone writing stuff about maths and science)
SuperCollider/GEM/puredata/Ardour/Din/jackd anyone doing sound art is using this stuff as a change from logic/reaktor on the fruity machines

Re: List of your linux Apps
This is a application that is in the Debian repositories:
Scribus – Open Source Desktop Publishing
It is really nice, recently I offered to start translating a "newspaper" that is in English,
and needed to start using some kind of "desktop publisher" to put the translated text,
and the images back into a document, or documents that look like the original paper,
Just last night I tried "Scribus" for the first time, and it is great.
I could start it from the command line:
just by typing
It has it's own "GUI", or can be just run directly from the command line, if one takes the time to learn the various options and commands.
