Hi.

What is your favorite web browser.

Mine is Firefox.

The only secure browsers available from the official Debian jessie repositories are Firefox and Chromium.

From the Release Notes:
browsers built upon the webkit, qtwebkit and khtml engines are included in Jessie, but not covered by security support. These browsers should not be used against untrusted websites.

For general web browser use we recommend Iceweasel or Chromium.

Iceweasel has been replaced with Firefox, of course.

Firefox user but I have installed Chromium (only to check how big it gets over time hehe) too - use lynx in case I'm too lazy to fire up Firefox/Iceweasel (put tears here).

Hi arochester.

I'm not familiar with that. I must check it out.

Cheers.

Chromium- just like chrome (well, pretty much) but available and supported from the official repositories.
Laptop: Debian GNU/Linux 9 'Stretch' 64bit

We are the Universal OS. Be patient, give help, teach the Debian way.

Firefox. It displays web pages correctly, has some useful extensions, and doesn't annoy me enough to investigate alternatives. I also use Chrome for a couple of TV streaming sites that don't like FF, but it eats too much memory.

I use Firefox as my main browser, but I have Palemoon, Chromium, Opera, and Qupzilla installed as well.

That's a strong lead by Mozilla Firefox. :D

I was a Firefox guy, but have moved to Pale Moon. It seems to perform better and my add-ons work better with Pale Moon. I don't really like the direction Firefox has been going lately.

I put Chrome as I frequently use a Chromebook, but Firefox does a fine job also.

I usually skip "What is your favorite" threads on any forum, but no longer. I had never heard of Pale Moon before and I appreciate the recommendation.

Thank you!

Chromium, because it is reasonably fast and syncs well across all my devices.

Hi Chrissy. Chromium would easily be my 2nd favorite. :)

My favourite would be a browser that uses system resources efficiently, doesn't interfere with what I do, works on older hardware, is responsive, is not designed like a magnet for advertisements, and finally and is intelligently designed to render pages legibly when script is disabled.

The worst infection of all, is a false sense of security!
It is hard to get away from CLI tools.

So far firefox has proven to be quite useful and rarely presents issues though chromium is faster (even though it is a battery drainer) and I like the idea of linking my email account to the browser itself is atractive.

But, fairy tales are on a second floor ;-)

Only FF. Till last year had also a chromium for checking gmail, but this task is better isolated with an old ginger droid.

I have to admit Firefox-esr is growing on me, after I calmed down and figured out a few things.

What I like:
Pin Tabs
Dbl Click Star Bookmark Options
Bookmark Tags
Add to Searchbar Options
Good Customizizzation

Downside:
Too Much Crap(TMC) like pocket,sync,share.. they should be addons
Preferences is clunky, stripped out too many options, no 'save' button is confusing
about:config is worse than windows registry, needs subsections, tooltips to what each setting does
Search for text when I start typing needs a hotkey listed on the find results
Bookmarks Library is still clunky like the old Netscape/IceApe, selective import from html would be nice
I now have six themes to choose from, but only two toolbars, no statusbar, wtf?

Good/Bad:
Page Permissions are good, but no option to allow javascript per site?
