Installing Ralink Rt3290 Firmware***

#1 Post by Ulrich Luminus »

Hello everyone.

I am trying to install debian on my laptop, but the installation interface, keeps telling ne that one of my devices is not working because the drivers are missing, and that i should insert a removable media with the drivers. I searched about rtl_nic/rtl8106e-1.fw rt3290.bin, which is the name of missing driver, and i found some packages. The problem is that ethernet connection is not an option for now, and whenever i insert my usb stick to install the drivers (which i got then from a second machine that runs windows), i get the same message again. The package that i downloaded is from packages.debian.org with name:
firmware-realtek_0.43_all.deb

I even extracted everything and went through the same steps again, but nothing worked.

So is there a way to fix this?

https://www.debian.org/releases/jessie/ ... 04.html.en

Or use http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unoff ... -firmware/

Also, the message is *not* about "drivers", it is about firmware, please read https://wiki.debian.org/Firmware

To install your downloaded .deb package, use gdebi or `dpkg -i *.deb`

Thank a lot, it's working. The problem was on the format of my usb stick.
And sorry for using driver instead of firmware. But i didnt know the difference, because i am new on this.
