Failed to load iwlwifi-7260-17.ucode

#1 Post by natrium »

Hello, I have a notebook with Intel 7260 wireless card and I was running iwlwifi driver properly before the updates on packages(It was about 2 GB of update)
Im using Debian 8
Now, on boot screen I see the failure while loading on WiFi driver.
This is my dmesg | grep iwlwifi output:

Code: Select all

[   11.147629] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0002)
[ 11.387240] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: firmware: failed to load iwlwifi-7260-17.ucode (-2)

[ 275.943453] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-7260-17.ucode failed with error -2
I can't terminate iwlwifi from kernel by using rmmod iwlmvm iwlwifi
It says is not loaded currently,
Also cant load with modprobe iwlwifi.

This is my ifconfig output:

Code: Select all

This is output for modinfo iwlwifi | grep 7260

The "2 GB" of updates for Jessie sure raises my eyebrows! Have you added any other repositories to your sources? Just to be sure, please install inxi and let us look at the output of

Code: Select all

inxi -r
and

Code: Select all

inxi -F

Oh dear, just because your system is a MONSTER product is no reason to make a "FrankenDebian"! https://wiki.debian.org/DontBreakDebian

Unfortunately, your system very probably is broken and a restore from backup or a reinstall is the only way to get it working correctly. You could try fully updating to Stretch and getting rid of all those sid, wheezy, and jessie repositories, but there's no guarantee that would be a fix.
