Non-standard repositories can cause problems sometimes.

Can we also see:

Code: Select all

apt-cache policy udev
aptitude -s full-upgrade
Let `aptitude` rattle through a few options if it asks ;)

Would download/install/remove packages.
I am confused by how it ends "Would download/install/remove packages". What does that mean ? :?:

It just means that the packages would have been removed if the command was run "for real" and as root.

Where did you get that JDK from?

It looks to be causing problems...

jdk 8 is not in Debian but I believe they offer a script that wgets a tar.gz with the needed files.

But I ran it from root as you can see in here :
root@Frederic:/home/frederic# aptitude -s full-upgrade

Huh, I don't exactly remember, it's been a while.... I actually don't use it anymore so I will remove it to see if it helps. I'll keep you updated.

I see it now : I got it from the backports repo (https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/installi ... e-muliarsa). And looking at my sources.list, I can see my comment I did at that time to justify the use of it

Code: Select all

deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian jessie-backports main
Now, I cant even remove those JDK packages, I get the same error. I'm pretty much stuck :?

You didn't have to, the -s flag stops the actions being carried through — it would be wise to always read the man page and check the options if you are ever running commands with which you are not familiar.

Can APT heal itself?

Code: Select all

# apt-get install -f
If not, try `aptitutude -s full-upgrade` again and press "n" when it asks, it will then go through a list of possible resolutions and one of them may actually fix things.

Point taken, I'm just so eager to fix my issue that I overlooked this parameter.
