No system sounds in Debian LXDE
No system sounds in Debian LXDE
I have Jessie LXDE on my pc and Stretch LXDE on a laptop, and both have no system sounds: like notifications, clicks etc. Can it be that LXDE, being a stripped down environment, doesn't provide any system sounds at all? And if so, is there a way to configure them? I basically need to hear a sound when I get new desktop notifications.

I think you might be right. However, a lot of GTK applications for example will use Gnome's sounds if the packages are installed. Search the repositories for system sounds.mef wrote:Can it be that LXDE, being a stripped down environment, doesn't provide any system sounds at all?

Thank you. I've looked, but couldn't find any suitable packages to enable sounds. That's a bit disappointing since I've kinda grown to like LXDE)

Re: No system sounds in Debian LXDE
Yes. But it doesn't provide any customization for system sounds apart from volume controls. I guess, that must be some part of the desktop environment, and LXDE doesn't have it.
