Gnome theme colors
Gnome theme colors
Where to change this color in config files of any theme(or default theme) of Gnome 3.22.2 in Debian 9? I cannot find it.
Debian 10, 64 bit, Gnome 3.30.2, Intel Core i3-6100 CPU 3.70GHz, 8GB RAM.
Re: Gnome theme colors
I'm looking for answer how to change it, not why it so happened.rulet wrote:Where to change this color in config files of any theme(or default theme) of Gnome 3.22.2 in Debian 9? I cannot find it.

Re: Gnome theme colors
I already did that, I found the way with a custom theme.

Dear original poster, please ignore golinux. She is known to spread conspiracy theories. Of course colours can be changed, otherwise no other theme for Gnome 3 or gtk3 would exist.golinux wrote:You totally missed the point. It might not be possible if Gnome does not allow users to do so because it would affect their 'branding' negatively.

Yea, I see, I just wanted to know technical details... Didn't know that golinux is she .deborah-and-ian wrote: Dear original poster, please ignore golinux. She is known to spread conspiracy theories. Of course colours can be changed, otherwise no other theme for Gnome 3 or gtk3 would exist.
By the way, do you know how to change the default Adwaita theme, or it's possible only with a custom theme?

Re: Gnome theme colors
In Gnome the easiest way would be to use the gnome-tweak-tool (search the repositories).
Otherwise, just change the theme name in this file:

Conspiracy? Nah. Just 75 years of observing how the world and human nature works. It's not a pretty picture . . .deborah-and-ian wrote:Dear original poster, please ignore golinux. She is known to spread conspiracy theories.

Thanks for answer. I know about gnome-tweak-tool. I'm using now vertex-theme and customize it now as I want.

Re: Gnome theme colors
As much as I've seen the ugly side of you on this forum, I still deem you're a very smart individual. And smart people don't spread FUD and misinformation, so the statement that the theme colour can't be changed in gtk3 is pure FUD. Please stop that.golinux wrote:Conspiracy? Nah. Re: Gnome theme colors
There can be several areas where the "selected item background color" exists in theme files:
theme-name/metacity/metacity-theme-1.xml or metacity-theme-2.xml, etc.
theme-name/gtk-3.0/one of the css files
theme-name/gtk-2.0/one of the rc files
Most likely you will want to change the gtk-3.0/gtk.css line:
@define-color theme_selected_bg_color
You can make a dir in your /home dir called .themes and copy any installed theme there & edit away, then use it. Or just edit the installed theme files.

Re: Gnome theme colors
The thing of it is , Golinux never made a statement saying it can't be changed.-----so the statement that the theme colour can't be changed in gtk3 is pure FUD. Please stop that.
The link :https://igurublog.wordpress.com/2012/11 ... in-threes/ the word "this" links to, says that it seems they are deliberately
making it as difficult as possible,
Clearly stating ,"why it might not be possible", is not at all the same as sayingPost by golinux » 2017-07-10 15:22
That option may or may not exist. But this explains why it might not be possible.
"it can not be done " .
The age does not matter, 63 years of observing leads me to a similar conclusion,
"not a pretty picture".
I am just glad I won't be around to see the worst of it, when it "hit's the fan" so to speak.by golinux » Just 75 years of observing how the world and human nature works. It's not a pretty picture . . .

Can't read Arabic numerals? Try this . . . LXXV . . . (well in about a week but close enough to start celebrating).rulet wrote:Just wonder -- how old are you?golinux wrote:Just 75 years of observing

Yes, I can. So you were observing from your birth? . Hmm...golinux wrote:Can't read Arabic numerals?rulet wrote:Just wonder -- how old are you?golinux wrote:Just 75 years of observing

Re: Gnome theme colors
Of course she was observing from birth, but how many of those observations can presently be recalled? Personally, one of my earliest memories is the birthday cake for my sixth birthday [it was a good cake], I can't remember much before that. Maybe the cake from my fifth...rulet wrote: Yes, I can. Past time to lock and put it out of its misery (and us).
And note to Lysander . . . forgotten experiences shape who we are as much as those we remember. Even in the womb a fetus receives sensory information that contributes to an understanding of the world around them.
