debian caps lock indicator

#1 Post by userdebian9 »

Hi

I am trying to install caps lock indicator in debian xfce.
I tried sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tsbarnes/indicator-keylock, but I am getting following error.
Could you please suggest me if there is any other package for debian xfce.

More info: https://launchpad.net/~tsbarnes/+archiv ... or-keylock
Press [ENTER] to continue or ctrl-c to cancel adding it

gpg: keybox '/tmp/tmp10zpexr1/pubring.gpg' created
gpg: failed to start the dirmngr '/usr/bin/dirmngr': No such file or directory
gpg: connecting dirmngr at '/tmp/tmp10zpexr1/S.dirmngr' failed: No such file or directory
gpg: keyserver receive failed: No dirmngr

Thanks in advance.

I don't know what you mean by a caps lock indicator but I do know that installing any ppa's from *buntu is asking for trouble.

Which version of Debian are you using?

You can try the panel plugin "xfce4-kbdleds-plugin". Binary package for Debian 9 is avalible here: http://rgho.st/7dPnFDTcW

Rebuilt indicator-keylock for Jessie-based MX Linux back in 2015, been using it successfully ever since.

If the LED package in Stretch doesn't do it for you, I could rebuild indicator-keylock for you in the openSUSE build service.

I went ahead and built some packages:

https://build.opensuse.org/package/show ... or-keylock

Since it's a single deb, it's probably more efficient to just download and install the deb with gdebi than to add and install from the repo. Click on the download link, follow the directions for Debian, except just click on the link at the bottom to grab the binary (deb) package for your platform.
