where is firefox located in debian 9.1

i am trying to install flashplayer to my firefox browser in deb 9.1
in the installation instruction i need to copy some .so file to the browser plugin location
p.s
i downloaded the .tar.gz version in the flashplayer web site

If you want a GUI, Synaptic or packagesearch can list files that are installed by a package. Otherwise, dpkg is your tool.

i searched which -a firefox and came up with
user/bin/firefox but im looking for the plugin directory

I'll give you a hint, Vanilla Firefox is not installed in Debian 9.1 (Stretch) by default, there is a package called "firefox-esr"

Then I guess "*title*" isn't what you meant after all.

ok i find /usr/lib/firefox-esr but i copied libflashplayer.so to there and its seems that nothing change in the browser
(yes i restart it)

This is installed from tarball, 64 bit, installed to /usr/lib64/firefox. The proper location has changed to:

/usr/lib64/firefox/browser/plugins/

After untarring, the .../browser directory exists, but not .../browser/plugins, so it's not obvious that is the new home. The old directory (/usr/lib64/firefox/plugins/) no longer works.

i created those folders myself and still without flashplayer

ok i solved it.
i just copied libflashplayer.so to /usr/lib/firefox-esr/browser
thank you all i can go to sleep now

For a single user, you can just put libflashplayer.so in ~/.mozilla/plugins/
