ElementaryOS a perfect distro
ElementaryOS a perfect distro
Yesterday, I was testing pantheon desktop, so I decided to test and install ElementaryOS, The surprise was huge, It was something else, the desktop enviroment, was designed for being functional out of the box. You didnt have do anything, everithing was simple, aesthetic and ready to use.
Im really surprise with ElementaryOs, others distro all give you the same (You've the feeling the DE going to disassemble eventually), but ElementaryOs, give you a ended and polish product, just ready to use out of the box. It feels stable, robust and cooked for the very basic user, it gives you just a browser, a mail client, a music and video player, a calendar, and all of them integrated with de DE. Im just surprise how very good product they have achieved..
So, if you're looking for a robust ditro that doesnt get unset, with everithing working properly (no need to install/set anything) for your grandparent, your parents or an old person with litle informatic knowledge, this is the perfect distro to installed them. They won't get into any trouble with ElementaryOS.
Very, very good product they have achieved.... The first linux distro ended for the basic user. Others some linux distros should take this approach to give linux systems more popularity.

Re: ElementaryOS the perfect distro
Linux don't need popularity at all. Also is better for selective users.
I don't like at all Linux to be a Windows or MAC clone.
If someone don't need to do anything, Windows 10 and iMac are ideal choices.
There is none Perfect distro in this world.
P.S. Talking about robust? Well!!! there is FreeBSD, this is real robust system
Forgot something important: In addition to the looks, that on a Linux does not matter at all, ElementaryOS is just another bloatware pre-installed tool.

But "others some linux distros" are lost, they are clueless. You know that right?bester69 wrote:Others some linux distros should take this approach to give linux systems more popularity.
They need guidance. They need a shepherd, someone who "knows". Someone like you.
Go bester69, enlighten them, clear theirs minds of all this confusion, guide theirs hands and theirs efforts.

Thanks for this link, THIS!!
So many Desktop Environments (Linux and otherwise) have been suffering from a serious case of feature-bloat – resulting in slower, buggier and more... let's just say “cumbersome” desktops. But not Pantheon. With Pantheon, every aspect of the environment does what you expect it to do...and nothing more.
Pantheon is fast, extremely nice looking (one of the classiest of the Desktop Environments available), distraction free, and ridiculously easy to pick up and get comfortable with.

Well, I'd agree with KDE5 being a Ultimate Desktop, and at the same time, Pantheon being a simple, nice perfect desktop. You dude like to make noise in all my posts.
You all should learn to coexist with others persons that has its own idiosyncrasy, please STOP Sociopaths fascism!, We dont understand the world in the same way. You're behaving like a "supressive person", you can figure it out in google.

Re: ElementaryOS the perfect distro
For some (many?) people, Linux equals Ubuntu equals Unity.
For those coming from there, I can see how Elementary/Pantheon would seem like "a sane, lightweight alternative" or some such buzzword-laden description.
Personally, I never understood what the noise is about:
a "normal" desktop with a dock and a top panel, built with 99% already existing gtk3 utilities... meh.

You might also like Elive, which is also based on Debian and uses the Enlightenment Window Manager; I came across it when I was considering using Enlightenment in Debian and was looking for ideas but I'm a bit stuck with the Mate D.E. although, when I want something faster, I can always use the key combination Ctrl Alt F2, which takes me to my second "teletypewriter" or tty2.bester69 wrote:ElementaryOS a perfect distro
By the way, you're obviously a fast typist. Is that avatar you use a racing driver?
Spelling mistakes or typos like these are wholly unnecessary and can be eliminated in seconds while writing the post. All that's needed is to right-click on the underlined, misspelled word while typing the post and select the replacement proposed by the spelling checker. It's as easy as pie but maybe you need to set the language to English by going to Board Settings, global settings?bester69 wrote: supressive person -> pleaseandthankyou? -> thats cool ->thats cool ->didnt ->everithing ->Im a ended and polish product ->ditro ->everithing litle informatic knowledge

Yes, yes, yes very strange distro. In official web site, thei wrotekedaha wrote:You might also like Elive, which is also based on Debian and uses the Enlightenment Window Manager;bester69 wrote:ElementaryOS a perfect distro
So, my simple opinion would be fu...off.A donation is required to install the stable version, but you can install it cost-free too. All you need, is invitation code is a simple way to allow to use Elive to the persons that can’t possible to pay by any reason. Of course the idea is not to give invitation codes to everybody instead to use the payment process, for that, we will request something similar in effort, for example, to write an article about Elive.

Another 'vanity distro', I'd posit.“Elive is not made for newbies. Elive is not made for experienced people. Elive is not made for enterprises or personal user. Elive is art. It is simply for the people who appreciate it and want to use it. Feel free to try Elive, because only you decide what you want in this world!”
Re: ElementaryOS a perfect distro
Elive?
I haven't recommended it because I've never used it; I just mentioned it to Bester69 since, in line with his other posts, he might like it. Or perhaps Zorin:None1975 wrote: Yes, yes, yes very strange distro. So if Debian isn't the perfect choice for the OP, then he has plenty of distros out there to choose from but maybe he's found a new home over at elementaryforums.com, but I'll miss some of his more entertaining posts here.Zorin OS is an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution designed especially for newcomers to Linux. It has a Windows-like graphical user interface and many programs similar to those found in Windows. Zorin OS also comes with an application that lets users run many Windows programs. The distribution's ultimate goal is to provide a Linux alternative to Windows and let Windows users enjoy all the features of Linux without complications.
