I did some searching with little results. I suggest trying one of the later versions of a live distro such as ubuntu or others and boot the live system, see if the device is detected and supported. If so, you could then grab the drivers/firmware from that live system. Perhaps even try a live HTPC system.

Hi,

I upgraded to Stretch with clean install but can't use any TV-app with my tuner yet.

Thanks for this, but I already knew this before, but there isn't any driver for Linux there: AVerTV Hybrid Volar HD H830. :(

What about this one?
http://storage.avermedia.com/web_releas ... 07.tar.bz2

Or their FAQ
Are Linux drivers supported?
Contact us and provide your Linux and kernel versions. We will provide you with further information.

Try to get kernel source closest to 4.9.0-4-amd64 from http://www.kernel.org and then copy to /lib/modules/4.9.0-4-amd64/source/drivers/media/dvb"

"$ uname -r
4.9.0-4-amd64"

"/lib/modules/4.9.0-4-amd64/source/drivers/media/dvb" -> I don't have this.

What now?

Is a properly stupid place to look for kernel sources, I don't know of any distro that puts them there. As usual for proprietary software. :roll:
You could either link your kernel headers/source there, something like: ln -s /usr/src/linux-headers-$(uname -r) /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/source, or fix the makefile for that driver to look in a sane location.
The latter is preferred if you plan on recompiling this for kernel updates without hassle... Though it's a third party driver, so there will always be some screwup to deal with.
Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action. Four times is Official GNOME Policy.
