Run Hide Legacy Tray, Hide Top Bar, No Topleft Corner and Workspaces To Dock from Gnome.org as they are not in repos AFAIK. Run Caffeine and Dash To Dock from Debian repos. Of all of these, Workspaces To Dock has greatest upside as a more elegant approach to overview / navigation imho than either vanilla or Gnome2 desktops such as Cinnamon or Mate, for where more than about six different windows are being used at once. Downside not obvious with quad core CPU / ssd drive / >4GB RAM for six extensions running a few common apps (web browser, file browser, word processor, audio player, image viewer ..).
Stability at running Gnome3 is mostly why i use Debian over a number of other popular distros. Jessie, Stretch and Buster work with all above extensions.
