why not?
afaics, these suffixes have lost all their meaning.
a commercial company can have an .org suffix
any voluntary non-profit hacker can hae a .com suffix.
a server that's not in italy can have an .it suffix
etc. etc.

Do you think anyone who been using the internet for the past ~17 years even knew they had a purpose/meaning behind them at one time? "Modern" browsers don't even need you to specify http or https (if they think there's more than one) let alone a suffix is you don't want.debiman wrote:why not?

You know nothing good ever stays that way... if corporation can generate profits from it.
Re: Why this forum use"forums.debian.net" no ".org" suffix?
The answer is because if it had .org extension, then the forums would occupy a subdomain of debian.org rather than debian.net. A users' forum cannot be an official part of debian.org, which is for the Debian Project itself.

No non-free or contrib packages installed on debian! rms would be proud.
