[Solved] About Hardware+Compatibility

#1 Post by user2635 »

Is there a website/debian page which lists hardware (like a specific laptop model) and current compatibility with Debian (current version preferably)?

Also with a debian config guide for that machine (for example, any special steps to make sure the OS is set up properly).

I'm probably going to get hit with 'just google it', but I envisioned there could be a central site for this (I had to ask anyway!).

Maybe you should have tried that before posting?

Debian: https://wiki.debian.org/Hardware
Ubuntu (if it works with Ubuntu it should work with Debian): https://certification.ubuntu.com/desktop/

There also is this, on the Debian.org website:
https://www.debian.org/releases/stable/ ... 01.html.en

You don't really need google to browse the website, it is full of use full information,
and it does have a search feature as well.
https://www.debian.org/releases/stable/amd64/
Table of Contents

Installing Debian GNU/Linux 9 for amd64
1. Welcome to Debian

1.1. What is Debian?
1.2. What is GNU/Linux?
1.3. What is Debian GNU/Linux?
1.4. Getting Debian
1.5. Getting the Newest Version of This Document
1.6. Organization of This Document
1.7. About Copyrights and Software Licenses

2. System Requirements

2.1. Supported Hardware
In some cases, for some types of hardware there have been detailed explanations written, in fact this very same topic/category, many repeated explanations, on the most problematic hardware.
