Grub Loader

#1 Post by vanman99@hotmail.com »

I am insatlling Debain on my Windows 10 system and i get all the way through to the Grub loader and it registers my Windows as Vista instead of 10. Is it safe to continue past this point or will it make 10 unloadable by wiping out the bootloader in 10?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It is just how Grub sees the Windows boot manager. It should be fine.

In any case... If you are that worried. You should always backup before making any system or drive changes.

Then again, a boot loader is always recoverable.

Edit:
I stand corrected. p.H has pointed out an error and I will reflect the changes in my post.

After doing some research into grub and its configs it does seem that it does point towards to Windows boot manager. The more you know.

Thanks.

The Windows boot loader, not the kernel. Indeed Windows 10 uses the same boot manager introduced with Window Vista, Windows Boot Manager aka bootmgr.
