MDR XB650BT No sound through Headset

#1 Post by tanman »

Hello guys,

My Sony MDR XB650BT bluetooth headset is connecting, but I can not get sound to pipe through it. I have tried installing pavucontrol and set the headset to it. The mic works, but the sound will not go through it. Just keeps playing on the internal laptop speakers. I have been googling the issue and nothing is helping. Hopefully, someone here can help.

Edit:
My syslog output.

I tried this. Same issue. When I attempt to configure the headset profile, it does not save. If I exit and load it again it says the headsets profile is set to off.

do the following steps

Code: Select all

bluetoothctl
then type

Code: Select all

agent on
default-agent
you should get "default agent request successful" and "device xxxx connected"

send us some output

Which display manager is being used?

I had an issue with similar symptoms trying to connect to a bluetooth audio device. The bluetooth window would show the device as connected and being recognised an audio device.

For me the issue was due to GDM stealing bluetooth control for the accessibility features. Workaround 2: Disable pulseaudio's bluetooth in GDM as documented in Debian's wiki page BluetoothUser a2dp resolved the issue in my case.
