chess programs in Debian (Stockfish)

#1 Post by anhtu »

I wonder when shall we get the new version of Stockfish in Debian repositories? The current available version in Debian Jessie is Stockfish 5.0. I know it's the same in Debian Testing (as I use Debian Testing on my laptop, while keeping Jessie on desktop) and running through the list of packages in Debian Sid (https://packages.debian.org/unstable/allpackages) showed me, to my disappointment, that even in Sid they still keep the same, obsolete version 5.0.

I know from Stockfish website that there has appeared the new version, Stockfish 6.0, almost more than 18 months ago. So, I suppose it's stable enough. In principle I do not want to install it from the original site, as a stubborn Debianite who adheres only to our repos, but I'd appreciate to know when shall we get it.

I think it didn't like the "www" prefix.
