Forum awful performance

#1 Post by pawRoot »

Is it just me or since a couple of days this forum is hard to use? sometimes i have to wait 2 minutes to load a page or refresh it multiple times.
I don't have a problem with any other website.

Yeah, sometimes it can be slow to react. I find that it often helps to go to the Board index and then back to whichever thread you want. This is not the only site that can be slow. I wonder at times if there is a geographic component in this, if my connection goes through a node that gets overwhelmed. I know it's not my machine because I can immediately navigate other sites without a holdup.

I noticed that too, and as i said this forum is the only problematic website for me, so it can't be on my end i guess.

I have found the boards to be very bad for the last week or two, I need to refresh the page twice sometimes and I am finding that I have to preview a post immediately before applying it for real or it just stalls :?

Something that puzzles me is the differing URL for the same forum. For example: View active topics can look like either of these.

Code: Select all

Why? They show the same stuff as I'm typing this.

Interesting. I had to edit these lines to make them stay the way I see them.

^ sid means session id in this case. i guess it means you're logged in, but otherwise it's the same link.

i see these sort of inconsistencies on ALL the forum sites i use.
also varying loading times.
that said, the differences are largest here on fdn: sometimes a reload is near-instant, sometimes as op describes it.

I came across that issue a few times, as a matter of fact. It has also been a little bit slow occasionally.
Just got a white screen when submitting this post...

strange, this forum (webpages) is light, and not bloated like 99.999999 pct of the whole web...
