Hello ,
i installed Debian Wheezy on my Imac early 2009.
Because startup fails with some error i must add "nomodeset"
afterwards i tried to install Nvidia-Driver ,
but i found that the package "Nvidia-Driver" is no more for Wheezy.
Am i missing something or is this a bug?
I tried then to install Nvidia-Driver from Wheezy-Backports which is 340.+ , but it was not so good as expected, so i#d like to use earlier version 304.+
How can i install this Driver withouth Nvidia-Driver listed as package?
Thank you very much

Hello. Please, read Debian Wiki, section "Debian 7 "Wheezy". As you can see, you must install nvidia-glx package. Hope it helps. Good look/mrkapqa wrote:How can i install this Driver withouth Nvidia-Driver listed as package?

You can always install Jessie and use the legacy driver if all fails:
https://packages.debian.org/jessie/nvid ... 4xx-driver

Re: No Nvidia-Driver for Wheezy anymore?
What's wrong with using Stretch on that hardware? Is it that the Nvidia proprietary driver for your older card won't work at all on Stretch? Maybe the newer version of nouveau will be good enough by now.

Re: No Nvidia-Driver for Wheezy anymore?
thanks, i think it got cleared , there was an error in the Debian Wiki;
i am trying now Stretch on my Thinkpad T400 , so far , so good.
Strangely, whenever i update the sources.list there is always a strange delay , that i did not notice with earlier versions of debian.
stretch seems more stable than jessie
