I download Debian "debian-live-9.2.0-amd64-lxde+nonfree" and I flashed it on my usb pendrive. (NO bad blocks ecc)
The distro starts in live mode but on the screen I can just see and move the mouse pointer (no desktop, taskbar, nothing...)

(One of my friends said to me that it's a "virtualization" problem but I don't know if he's right...)

Using a virtual machine on Windows, the distro works very well (just no wi-fi :? )

P.S.Through the Pendrive I also tryed the "Graphical Installer" outside the "live mode" and it doesn't detect the wi-fi card !!! (realtek rtl8723be 802.11 bgn)
I download the non-free iso just to avoid problems like these ones and then... :oops: (anyway I tryed also 5/6 linux distros and none of them can detect this wifi card)

just to get the confusion out of the way:
you are booting a real (not virtual) machine from the lxde non-free live iso.
you have not installed yet, this is the live session.

seeing a mouse pointer is a good sign - it means most of the system, even the gui, is working - although obviously something didn't work, you should be seeing a graphical desktop.

now enter Ctrl-Alt-F2 - this should bring you to a text prompt. you should be able to log in (i don't know the credentials - maybe "live" for user and password?).

I have absolutely no idea what you mean by "flashed" so could you please provide the actual command(s) used or a link to the program employed (and details about which buttons you clicked in the GUI).

There are *many* ways to transfer an ISO image to a USB stick and some of the most common methods used by n00bs are obsolete and don't work at all.

ProTip: consult the official documentation.

Finally, I can't be bothered scrolling through that absurdly long code box but I think you have AMD hardware so have you tried the unofficial ISO image which includes the non-free firmware that may be required by your graphics card for best performance?

Thanks for the reply. I used the latest version of Rufus from Windows (I used thee Hybrid iso mode) It has always worked for me

This is the accurate CPU-Z report and I had problems uploading the more compact/clear version to the forum (html/pdf/doc/even txt) :(
Anyway, you're right! This laptop mostly uses AMD hardware (a10 cpu, radeonR5 gpu) an I want to use the non-free iso to have the best performance

please use the method outlined by HoaS to create a USB stick dedicated to the live .iso only!

Hi sorry for the late reply. I followed your instructions and flashed again my pendrive, this time using the DD option in rufus. Same problem, I still have just the pointer :( I tryed to type sommething in the command line but I have infinite errors like this:

AMD-Vi: Completion-Wait loop timed out

Problem solved install the official .iso again but this time without non-free drivers.
Anyway I still have 3 problems:
---1) Wi-Fi not working (realtek rtl8723be). So I took no advanteges on Installing the OS while connected through LAN ... :oops:
---2)Debian lxde seems to run slow on this laptop... Is it possible that the Debian files on my root partitition are corrupted? I installed Debian on a 10Gb ext4 partition, but I noticed that the partition is 100% full... :shock: Debian should have blocked the installation if the partition wasn't big enough?!
---3)For me this is not a problem at all but Before the login appears and after i press "shutdown", I have 2 screens with "static" glitches.

no doubt because non-free firmware is not installed.

not likely to be corrupted; but your install could be borked.
Debian should have blocked the installation if the partition wasn't big enough?!
i'm not sure.
10GB should have been enough, but maybe not for gnome... :roll: but i'm sure definite system specs can be found somewhere on debian web pages.

some harmless gpu driver glitch; linux does not go to great lengths to cover up things like that.

With DE, 10gb, is just barely enough.

seems to have a 500 GB HD.
Taking only 10 GB for Debian is asking for problems... It is barely enough as others (a/o Garry) already said.
Would you have taken only 10 GB for installing the Windows 10 on your system?
A lot of your problems may come from the too small Debian-partition.
So start again, take 50 GB, that's only 10% of the 500 GB....

Yes but I installed the lxde edition and I made another bigger partition for the /home, so 10gb should be enough considering that Debian is not a rolling distribution...

LXDE won't take much space, but you'll soon be getting cramped if you actually do anything with your install.
