How to create animate logo

Hi all,

Which software shall I run to create an animated logo similar to following youtube video?

How to create an Animated logo in Adobe Flash CS6

You can use Gimp. Check this tutorial.

are 2 more applications.
which of all those is most suitable, depends on what end result you want.

there does not seem to be a dedicated graphical program for that, but you should look at gifsicle.

I have received an dis-encouraging advice from another forum saying;

 ... animated images are frigging annoying. Please don't put this on a web site. A lot of people have disabled animation for precisely this reason. I don't want you to waste your time doing something that many people will never see .....

if you want my opinion, yes, i 100% agree that those are fricking annoying (plus it's just so 1999...).
