Need help with wireshark

#1 Post by BeginnerDebian »

Hi,

I am using a Windows PC with VM (Debian) and want to use wireshark to sniff the traffic on windows.

Problem:
I want to filter a specific website but when i open a website in windows, it shows me only Notify*HTTP/1.1 in wireshark and no further information, so i cant filter the website I want.

But if i open Firefox under VM, i can see a lot more information and filter the website i want so see.

Browsing under Windows shows me that: https://picload.org/view/drlgdgwi/windows.png.html

Browsing under VM shows me that (I want the same informations shown, when I browse in windows): https://picload.org/view/drlgdrga/debian.png.html

Thanking all of you in advance.

So it isn't Debian related really. Wireshark or better yet, Wireshark + Windows problem. It's like asking bicycle forums something like this: "I have bicycle and car. My car has a flat tire, wat do?"

Wireshark community can most likely provide you better solution than Debian forums. You could also check that you don't have any capture filters applied Search engine helps you with that.
Debian 10.2 Stable with i3
Secure your stuff: Securing Debian Manual
Don't break your stuff: Source List Management DontBreakDebian
