Cannot connect to internet
Cannot connect to internet
I recently installed debian by CD. I am new to linux. I cannot connect to internet. iwconfig brings "no wireless extensions". I don't have access to internet by this device. So I need to add everything by external usb devices. I searched a lot butcould not find the solution.

Re: Cannot connect to internet
Hi. I installed the driver. But not sure if it is installed properly.
Re: Cannot connect to internet
after instaling firmware package either unplug and reinsert the device,
or modprobe -r then modprobe the driver,
or reboot to let it find the firmware.
confirm it.

Code: Select all
# dmesg | grep -i firmware

Re: Cannot connect to internet
ok instead of playing "who can guess what the issue really is", let's gather some proper intel.
op, please provide the info requested here
oh and wifi still doesn't work?
what does networkmanager or iwconfig say?

Re: Cannot connect to internet
Have you tried a "hardwire" connection? Run a cat5 cable from the router to the computer, There is also a "firmware" version of Debian that solved my wireless problems. It is at: https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unof ... 4/iso-dvd/
