Identity for Google Maps site {SOLVED}

#1 Post by alelima »

Hi.

I installed Debian 9 a few days ago and since then I cann't access the google maps site. Firefox 57 is blocking Google Maps because "This website does not supply ownership information" and there isn't a Verified Certificate.

Do I need to download a Certificate for Google Maps? Where can I find it?

Thanks,
Alexandre.

Odd. Firefox 57 and qutebrowser can both access Google Maps just fine on my computer (also installed with Debian Stable). Are you sure your Firefox profile is working right? Try starting Firefox with a clean profile (search engines will tell you how that is done).

By default, Debian 9 uses Firefox-esr. Try Firefox-esr. Who did you install the latest version of? Personally, I downloaded the latest version of Firefox (57.04). I downloaded it to my home directory. Extracted it and started the browser. Google Maps works great.

+1. That's the safest way to use software that is not in the Debian repository.

Waterfox (installed as described by None1975) opens Google Maps with excellent results. alelima, you have made a mess of some sort. It's probably some minor little tweak with a side effect. Rename ~/.mozilla/firefox and try again.

Sometimes Purging the package (with apt-get or aptitude) than reinstalling the package can sometimesl fix unusual issues like that.

@bulkley thanks for the waterfox hints :)

Hi

You could take a look at the about:config variable (if it exists): network.http.spdy.enabled.http2

And toggle it to false
