That is correct. The US dollar went off the gold standard in the 30's or the 70's (depending on your point of view of course).pawRoot wrote:If BTC is a pyramid scheme then who is on top ?

And you really need to be a little less hostile. I knew that, that's why I added "military". It was a hypothetical example. FYI, I've studied economy and know a bit (meaning a lot) about it. You maybe need to educate yourself about financial bubbles and how they're made. To you it sounds reasonable for a "currency" to be so volatile as to peek 20k $ and few weeks later to plummet below 10k?!pawRoot wrote:Money aren't backed by gold since a long time, you need to educate yourself.
The ones who control the internet, the IP providers and the US government with it's many intel agencies. Even uneducated people know that. Guess why it's being banned in China (including India, South Korea an some others) and heavily regulated in Russia?pawRoot wrote:If BTC is a pyramid scheme then who is on top ?
Re: Why try to push bitcoin so hard
There was an interesting factoid about bitcoin in a TedX talk that jaromil (dyne.org) gave a few years ago. It seems that bitcoin was developed as a creative solution to get around the blockade that financial institutions put on donations to Julian Assange and Wikileaks. When there is oppression, those seeking freedom will always find a way around.

^Be they communists or not, it is true that most of what they predicted is coming true. I believe it's very ignorant to dismiss the obvious truths just because someone belonged to a certain ideology. What about Friedman's and Adam Smith's free market economy?
How did that go and where do we stand now with that pipe dream?

I think you have it backward. Bitcoin was developed privately in order to circumvent government and bank control of money. That is why China, India, South Korea, etc., suppress it. Bitcoin eliminates banks and Governments as a middlemen.Wheelerof4te wrote:[...]The ones who control the internet, the IP providers and the US government with it's many intel agencies. Big business has seen the advantages of the block-chain algorithm* and, of course, they want to use it for profit.
*The block chain algorithm: Part of what makes bitcoin work, but not bitcoin itself.

Exactly. I said pretty much the same thing here but it seems nobody got it.RU55EL wrote:I think you have it backward. Gee', I should be buying my own mining farm to make money out of thin air. Why not, who needs archaic things like actual work and pay? Let's hop on to the cryptocurrency choo-choo train! /s

Re: Why try to push bitcoin so hard
Bitcoin mining computers are not cheap, and don't produce very much Bitcoin. The bitcoins awarded are for providing computing power to process and store the blockchain. You are not going to get rich mining Bitcoins. If you think you are, you have been smoking something funny in your pipe.Wheelerof4te wrote:Gee', I should be buying my own mining farm to make money out of thin air. If you want to send money, or buy something without using a banking institution, you can use cash or Bitcoins. Bitcoins are easier over vast distances.
That being said, I don't use Bitcoins because I don't completely understand how they work. When it comes to money, you can't have high potential gain without high potential risk, and you shouldn't invest in something that you don't understand.

Re: (solved)Why try to push bitcoin so hard
Actually this topic was solved some time ago, the question "Why try to push bitcoin so hard", was answered, pretty simple:
Some people can make a lot of real money and gain power off it. Part of making it profitable involves "pushing" and promoting it every where.
As for the rest, it has now turned into a political , troll thread. So I am asking that a mod or admin please just close the topic.
Thank you.

Just goes to show.commie
Commie is derogatory slang for communist. You shouldn't call someone a commie unless you want to start a fight.
Again, I ask that a mod just close the topic.
