I think you both are overextending ABIT :D , painting flames and changing rims on your $500 pickup truck is tasteless and lame, while small gaps aren't ;)
Also i am not using i3 only to save space, but to have the windows position nicely automaticly.

i wonder what i3's main developers would have to say about that.
for many years they have been developing a window manager extremely high in functionality, and extremely low in looks...

here the i3-gaps maintainer says:
As it stands, gaps is completely out of the question anyway because they break window decorations, which is a big no-no.
However, even if that were to be fixed, gaps violate the idea behind i3 which is maximizing screen space. Gaps will stay a fork, most likely forever.
On a side note it should be mentioned that the way gaps are implemented is really more of a hack. Yes, it works fine (mostly), but that's still another compelling argument against merging it.

And i care what developers think about it ? are you 15 years old ? if i want gaps i will use gaps, simple.
I use Linux because i can customize it how i want, and not use everything the developers way.

This thread is for showing desktops, not discussions about them. If you need to discuss it,
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=136328
is a better thread for that.

bspwm is great for gaps, they can even be configured on-the-fly:

'Cos it looks cool :D

There is no "golden ratio issue" with dwm — most tiling wm users do not want to run programs that require a specific aspect ratio for their GUI.

See https://suckless.org/rocks for a list of applications that behave "correctly" in respect of window management ;)

But sxhkd is the best keybinding program ever, why did that not work?

https://packages.debian.org/stretch/sxhkd

EDIT: you also need xdo to move the windows ;)

Also, if you're going to chat here please post some scrots as well because people come here expecting eye-candy rather than walls of text...

What a struggle. I gave up on the thumbnail. here's my desktop.

Edited to add: This is Debian with Openbox. The Conky is my own configuration which has evolved over several years. On the left is Tint2 chopped and adapted from a configuration I found on the net. Of course, the background is from Antix because I like the picture, at least for now.

This is Stretch on my laptop. I'm still using Kubuntu on my desktop, but hoping to get that moved over to Debian when I have time.

Thanks. It works. I do this so rarely that whichever hosting site I was using last time has morphed or evaporated.

I found the ghost in my Tint2 which showed in my previous post. The transparency is complete now.
