Debian 9.3.0 Netinstall Wireless issue!

#1 Post by jeroendv9 »

Hey guys,

So having a bit of a problem. I wanted to dual boot Debian 9.3.0 with a Netinst USB along with Windows 10.

Only there is 1 problem. I can't get the drivers to load on my netinst. And my laptop doesn't have a Ethernet port.

So the driver is Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 from this page. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... rking.html

Only it will not load when put in /firmware/kernel/wireless and it says that the kernel version is 4.6& Above.

I think Debian is below this, i'm not a heavy Linux user. But would like some help from you guys on what to do now :)!

A suggestion, especially when installing on unfamiliar hardware, is to download the firmware archive for your platform and unpack it into a directory named firmware in the root of a removable storage device (USB/CD drive). When the installer starts, it will automatically find the firmware files in the directory on the removable storage and, if needed, install the firmware for your hardware. You can find firmware downloads for your Debian version at http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unoff ... /firmware/.

Since it is an Intel wireless card, it should be easy to load its firmware.

As a second option, you could also try the Net Installer builds that include non-free firmware.
