I can't find anything caled grunt in debian, what is it?
Every executable in debian is upposed to have a man page so:
man grunt
Ought to tell you something.

http://packages.debian.org/cgi-bin/sear ... elease=all

or

http://packages.debian.org/stable/utils/grunt

This is "Secure remote execution via UUCP or e-mail using GPG".

You're correct, there is no documentation in that package, and there are two bugs http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=250664 and http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=252989 filed against it because of it, both being over one year old. More amazing still, is that the maintainer of said package is also the author: John Goerzen.
I suggest that you either send him a polite mail asking him about it or find an alternative solution.
