Memtest after memory upgrade shows only background
I've got a new Thinkpad T480 and did a memory upgrade so that I use the full 32GB of ram. After installation I've quickly checked if the additional memory was recognised and installed memtest. My plan was to reboot and run a memtest to see if everything is working fine. If I select in the boot process Memtest86+ I get a beep and all I can see is the debian stretch background without anything else. When I did this in the past with different distributions i got a blue screen seeing the progress of memtest etc. So is this behaviour normal?

Is this a UEFI setup ?
I am not sure that memtest86{,+} is compatible with EFI boot.

Indeed it looks like it uses efi as bootloader.
