unable to install kernel-devel and kernel-header file

hey,
i am trying to install dahdi on my debian. but i am not able to install kernel-devel and kernel-header file. evry time i run the command apt-get install kernel-devel kernel-header command i get
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package kernel-devel
E: Unable to locate package kernel-headers
please suggest me where am i wrong or what step am i missing.

There are no such packages. By kernel-headers you probably meen linux-kernel-headers, but note there is own version for each architecture. kernel-devel, that I can't figure out.

Use aptitude or apt to search, if you are not sure of package name. And https://packages.debian.org can also be used.

You can't be sure that instructions for other distros will apply on Debian and its derivatives---in this case, surely not.

Debian has a tool you can install to make sure you have kernel module build environments set up:

Install the module-assistant package.

As sysadmin, run "m-a prepare". Done.
