After a hard time with hibernation in the Linux kernel (as it's always broken in one way or another) I decided to consider auto-save-session a try in Gnome 3.28 (Ubuntu 18.04) instead.
I have enabled the feature in dconf-editor but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work either. After a reboot the desktop comes up empty again. I would appreciate any comments from people who have already encountered this problem and managed to solve it. Thanks
