Gnome 3 cursor issues with firefox quantum

#1 Post by Salted-Sea »

Hi everyone,

I have installed firefox quantum through snap for my debian stretch and after changing my cursor theme for the capitaine cursor theme I've realized he was switching back to the default one when he was crossing over discord and firefox quantum windows.

After modifying /usr/share/icons/default/index.themes to put inside :

Code: Select all

[Icon Theme]
Inherits=capitaine-cursors
It worked fine for discord but didn't change anything for firefox. :(

This issue never happen to me before despite the fact that on a old debian stretch I was using the same cursor theme and firefox quantum (installed via snap as well ) on the same laptor. I only changed my hard disk.

Thanks for reading me, and in the hope someone have an idea about how to fix it

Did you know that you can simply downloading the binary from Mozilla put it somewhere in your home and using it without using Snap but just installing the missing libraries? And guess what? It will upgrade by itself.

Check this out:

And yep, you can trash Snap...

^Why not just post the wiki page? It's been posted here 20 times already, here's 21th:

Using snap will not break your system because snaps are designed in such a way not to break the system. They still won't use the system theme.

Even so, installing packages some other than Debian way does not help trouble shooting.
