kmid does not play audio

#1 Post by Teodoro777 »

I installed kmid and obviously timitidy ++ and the latter works well as a terminal. the problem is kmid that scrolls the text but without audio ... I noticed that playing in the midi outputs (load the screen), I can hear it. But it's not a fixed output! sometimes it works one and sometimes another. How can I solve?
ps sorry for my ubuntu theme..

The big screen shot is useless. Try giving some real details, To start with maybe at least tell us what version of Debian you are using ?

i seem to remember that i have to start the timidity service first, before i can play anything:

Code: Select all

systemctl start timidity
but it currently gives me errors, idk why.

fwiw, audacious can play midi files, afaiu it uses its own midi daemon.

please do not full quote for every reply.

what does that mean?
is it working now?
how did you fix it?
But how I play a .kar with the text and sound?
are you now jumping to the next problem, or is this still part fo the original problem?
please be a little more verbose.

i also don't know what "a .kar with the text and sound" is.

Sorry. With audacious maybe I can play midi file.. But my goal is playing .kar file for karaoke. This file must to show also the text of song... I found only another software for this.. It is pykaraoke. But it doesn't work for an error with pygame. So I must to use kmid...

so really your problem is "how to play .kar files"?

maybe you should try to solve the problem with pykaraoke.
provide some output etc.

also when i search for karaoke software:

Code: Select all

apt search karaoke
i get several results.
tried all?

Yes, only kmid and pykarake work for my purpose. But pykaraoke is compromised by pygame, so remains only kmid, which only works on certain midi output. Now we should understand how to set one up and running.

How did you install Kmid? There is no Debian package for it so I suspect you may have dependency mismatch.
There is a Debian package for pykaraoke which may be easier to troubleshoot and get working. What is the exact error message you get for python-pygame?
It's much more likely you will get useful help if you supply all relevant details about installation, errors, and your system.
