icecat on debian from trisquel repository?
Re: icecat on debian from trisquel repository?
I never use foreign repos but plenty of people do, at least until it blows up. I've been thinking about trying the v60 icecat when it goes stable. Is trisquel still on the 52.x ver?

p.s. I have no idea if it would coexist with firefox-esr
What does the youtube vid have to do with it if it's for Mint?

Correct: https://wiki.debian.org/DontBreakDebianNot advisable to add a repository from another system?
The binary install from GNU has a lot better chance of being compatible than a Trisquel Ubuntu package.
But it's your system. You get triple your money back if you break Debian by installing foreign packages.

Re: icecat on debian from trisquel repository?
Hello, I try to install icecat not from Trisquel but from GNU (because I would like to avoid conflicts after an update). However, this is really difficult for me.
I have read the Readme.Icecat file, but I still can't install it. I am a beginner in compiling things (I know a few basic things with the terminal, but not compiling) so, please, could somebody help me to step-by-step install it ?
Thank you very much !

Is there any reason why you want to compile Icecat instead of using Firefox from the Repository?

"hijack" is a bit strong word, but I understand what you mean. I must admit that I was wrong: I thought the only way was to compile because I was downloading the wrong file. Actually, I should download the x86_64 file instead of the classic one.
Then you need to extract it and click on the icecat file, and it's done. Hope it will help somebody if needed.
