Hello guys,
I've been looking around, but can't seem to find a clear answer. Or maybe it's not official yet. I don't know.
Can anyone tell me what the kernel version of the following stable release (Buster) will be?
Thx

The full freeze starts on 2019-03-12[1], whichever kernel version is dependent on the linux-image-$architecture metapackage at that time will become the stable release kernel.
My bet is on v5.0 but this is just a guess.

So basically I should keep an eye on the following(for 64 bit):
https://packages.debian.org/buster/linux-image-amd64
Is this correct?

Re: Debian stable Buster kernel version
I thought that the latest LTS kernel at freeze time is what they go for, since security updates are much easier, being in the source releases instead of having the Debian developers have to manually backport the fixes.

Ok so I guess version 4.19 will be shipped with Buster then as 5.0 is not LTS?stevepusser wrote:I thought that the latest LTS kernel at freeze time is what they go for, since security updates are much easier, being in the source releases instead of having the Debian developers have to manually backport the fixes.

Re: Debian stable Buster kernel version
Yes, probably, though there are a lot of reports that the 4.19 kernel is buggy.

That's not really reassuring...stevepusser wrote:Yes, probably, though there are a lot of reports that the 4.19 kernel is buggy.
