Wifi doesn't work on liveusb (aborting authentication...)

#1 Post by kerryhall »

Attempting to try out Debian booting liveusb.

Using liveusb 9.6.0 mate nonfree.

After attempting to connect to two different APs, getting: aborting authentication with <xyz> by local choice (Reason: 3=DEAUTH_LEAVING)

wifi card is:
Ralink RT5370

I found a forum post saying if wpa_supplicant and network manager are both enabled, then disable wpa_supplicant, since they are both fighting over control of the card, however wpa_supplicant is not enabled.

I found another forum post saying to disable power management on the interface, but power management isn't enabled.

I'm at a loss at how to proceed.

This did the trick.

Why are these hex names used? Especially if they are buggy?

What was wrong with wlan0?

Wpa-supplicant is a required dependency for Network-Manager. You can configure wpa_supplicant to go on line without Network-Manager but not the other way around.
