Debian v8 (Jessie) still gets updates?
Debian v8 (Jessie) still gets updates?
I thought its support was dropped with v10 (Buster) release. :O
Re: Debian v8 (Jessie) still gets updates?
Jessie will receive updates until 30.06.2020 from the Debian Long Term Support project and within their restrictions [1]. Usually oldstable is only supported for one year after the release of the new stable [2].

Re: Debian v8 (Jessie) still gets updates?
Thank you. I didn't know that. I thought Debian would drop it right after its new stable release like Apple and others does.cronoik wrote:Jessie will receive updates until 30.06.2020 from the Debian Long Term Support project and within their restrictions [1]. [quote="cronoik"sually oldstable is only supported for one year after the release of the new stable[/quote]
That would make Jessie a special case then would it not?
Since it is 2 stable releases ago.

Re: Debian v8 (Jessie) still gets updates?
No it wouldn't. The first year after Stretch was released it received updates from the Debian security team. After that year the Debian Long Term Support team starts to support the release. Debian LTS is a relativly new initiative and has his own regulations.theblueplll wrote:That would make Jessie a special case then would it not?
