Non-free debian zoomed in!
Non-free debian zoomed in!
Hello,
I have tried so many times to install Debian on my computer and had to install non-free Debian because I need the drivers to connect to WiFi. When I go into the new installation, everything is extremely zoomed in. The screen ratio fits the monitor but is probably 1000% zoomed in and really bad quality. I also have dual monitors. This is only a problem on Debian but ubuntu, kali, manjaro, and more works fine. I have done this multiple times with the same result on the different non-free Debian images. I have even tried a Debian based distro with same result. I have asked help on stack overflow only to be told to do xrandr stuff and nothing helped online. I need to know if anyone else has had the same problem or knows how to fix it. If anything I would like to know why this is caused on Debian and not any other distro, tried ubuntu, manjaro, kali, many more and no problem.
Thank you in advance.

Re: Non-free debian zoomed in!
The specks says "Graphics: AMD® Caicos".
I am using 2 graphics cards for both monitors.
I think that is what they are.
Thanks.

Re: Non-free debian zoomed in!
I found a driver for my graphics card for Linux. here https://driversupdatecenter.net/drivers ... river&p=28 and I get a file called AMD with no file type. Should I use this? and how?

Caicos should work with free/libre xserver-xorg-video-radeon package.
Maybe it needs (non-free) firmware-amd-graphics package, too.

Hey,
I installed both of the packages and to effect after 2 reboots. Do I need to do anything else? What did I do wrong? it was a fresh install of debian

Install the CPU microcode as well.asd1234 wrote:Do I need to do anything else?
I'm pretty sure you didn't search for a solution before posting, we have had *many* threads about graphics support and firmware.asd1234 wrote:What did I do wrong?

Re: Non-free debian zoomed in!
Sorry, I meant when I installed the drivers nothing happened and everything was still zoomed in. Are there other drivers I need?

Re: Non-free debian zoomed in!
Please install a package called inxi and run and post the result here.
It's a very useful hardware info program and will tell us exactly which drivers and hardware are in use.
Code: Select all
inxi -G

Re: Non-free debian zoomed in!
Cant connect to internet to download package. Im giving up and building a computer.
Re: Non-free debian zoomed in!
Giving up so quickly is an attitude that won't bode well with Linux.
Always on Debian Testing
Re: Non-free debian zoomed in!
Oh no. I have tried many MANY times. And I need a new computer anyways so if I get debian now it will be not used.
