Is there any software you miss that used to be in Debian?

Here you can discuss every aspect of Debian. Note: not for support requests!

I wonder how many Qt 4 apps we'll lose when that's removed from Debian.

Banshee - Mainly use it to search for songs made between year and year.
Gnash - Use the stand alone player for old flash animations.
Tomboy - For shareability between different platforms.

Might be better suited and supported software these days but it's the things I started to use around Jessie.

@ sunrat - With so many players available, I can understand your being unsure as to if Guayadeque was ever in the repos. Jessie was the last Debian version to include it. I wish you had been able to try it out since I am sure you would have liked it.
@ kedeha - Thanks for researching Guayadeque. Hopefully you remember it and possibly used it.

It's quite good, I have it in AVLinux probably downloaded from the xenial PPA and installed locally (don't do this at home ;) ).
I just looked and my everyday system has Audacious, DeadBeef, gmusicbrowser, Juk, Mixxx, Potamus, QMMP, and Strawberry as well as MPV and VLC plus a couple more. They all have their own pros and cons. I really like Cantata as well which is installed in yet another system.

I miss qtile wm. Yes, i know, qtile package is in Sid repo, but it's old enough. The version in Sid-0.10.7-2 and latest stable version is v0.13.0.

Edit: Sunrat: Strawberry totally cuts it for me as an Amarok replacement.

Ok, but if it works still without any issues?
On some systems I stil use software > 20 years old, is still l working. I have to find an alternative as some day it will stop.

I've just read also:

sysinfo went out with Buster. Not necessary for those accustomed to finding out stuff about their hardware using commands in the terminal but of interest, perhaps, to curious non-tech users.
sysinfo is a graphical tool that is able to display some hardware and software information about the computer it is run on.

No non-free or contrib packages installed on debian! rms would be proud.

I miss truly modular software free of systemd hooks that limit users' freedoms. This is the tragedy of the path that Debian has taken.

Has anyone else noticed that phpmyadmin has gone in Buster? I think I'll definitely miss it when I get to install buster on my server, if I ever get round to doing that before the next stable release. I know how to do the mysql stuff via the command line but using the GUI also was convenient.

I think we need an addition to Goodwin's law: "The longer a thread in this forum goes on, someone will sooner or later blame Debian for implementing systemd."

This is true. It is like a scab that never heals. We are currently dealing with one here (and following).

systemd is responsible for Brexit, climate change, wars, refugees, US mass shootings, and the decline of honeybees among other things. Or was it Bayer/Monsanto? One of them anyway. It's all part of the deep state.

Nope. It's just responsible for wanting to eat the entire pie.

if amarok is a kde package, why would it be discontinued?

gqview has been gone a long time. It was a fine image viewer with nice keyboard actions; no need for a mouse. Ristretto is good but the keys aren't as easy for me to remember.
